Cosplay Kristi Cries Wolf

What the hell is an Antifa? Apparently, no one in the Trump administration knows, or frankly cares, as long as they can blame them for… something?
Antifa is short for Anti-Fascist. You know, the folks we fought against in World War II> I may be old, but I’m not old enough to have been there. But I bet your grandpa was. They fought fascists – Hitler, Mussolini, you know, those fascists. The ones the Trump administration seems to admire. Fashionista Fascisti Kristi Noem, who likes to play dress-up for photo ops, and who Trump named Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Secretary (DHS), didn’t just compare Antifa to some minor nuisance; she leveled the f’ing accusation, linking them directly to groups like ISIS, Hamas, and Hezbollah [1], [2], [3]. This wasn’t some offhand remark; it was a repeated, confident assertion that Antifa is “as dangerous as ISIS” [4], hell-bent on killing Americans [5].
The Scope of Noem’s Indictment
Noem didn’t stop there, also dragging MS-13 into her web of comparisons, insisting Antifa was “just as sophisticated” [3], [6]. Who does she call Antifa? Anyone who disagrees with the Trump administration. So far, that’s included protestors, comedians, TV networks, clergy, and probably a few more I can’t remember. (Getting old sucks…)[1], [2], [3].
The White House Stage
She spewed this bilge at a White House roundtable discussion, no less, claiming that Antifa is a clear and present domestic terror threat [5], [6]. They’re doubling and tripling down, following Trump’s own declaration labeling Antifa a “domestic terrorist organization” [6].
Expanding the Blame
But did she stop with Antifa? Nooooo… She followed it up by ridiculously accusing Democratic officials of “covering up” this alleged terrorism [7]. Like the humping frog in Portland. She put governors and mayors in Oregon and Illinois in the crosshairs, implying they are aiding and abetting the very “terrorism” she claimed was hitting their streets [7]. Of course, the henna tattoo kiosks in Portland must be part of it.
A Wearying Brand of Politics
This whole shitshow was, in essence, a masterclass in political theater. This isn’t about anything real. There is no Antifa organization. It literally means “anti-fascist”. Which, of course, begs the question: If they are against Antifa, it by default means they’re for fascism, right? Don’t worry, they won’t answer that one. [7]. It’s a tired script: inflate the threat, then blame political opponents for not taking it seriously enough, or worse, for actively concealing it [7].
