Trump’s Gaza Peace: Shorter Than a Scaramucci

Not a lasting peace. Not at all.

Well now, gather ’round folks, let me tell you a story about a peace deal that, bless its heart, tried its very best. You know, the felon President, Donald Trump, has always prided himself on being a “master dealmaker” [3]. And for a brief shining moment, it seemed like he might have pulled off something truly remarkable in the Gaza Strip.

A Glimmer of Hope: The October Peace Deal

Back in early October 2025, Mr. Trump announced what he touted as a significant deal to end the Israel-Hamas war [5]. This wasn’t just talk, either. The agreement, which came into force around October 10th [4], saw some crucial steps taken. On October 13th, Israel and Hamas actually moved forward with parts of the plan [2]. We even saw Hamas release the remaining 20 living Israeli hostages, while Israel released Palestinian prisoners and detainees [2].

President Trump himself was there, delivering remarks in the Israeli Knesset, describing the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, terrorist attacks as striking “to the core of humanity itself” [2]. This was all part of his broader “Peace to Prosperity” vision, a framework he presented as the “most realistic solution” for the region [7]. For a precious few days, it looked like this bold plan, which included a 20-point outline [4], might actually stick.

The Scaramucci Effect: Peace Dissolves

But here’s the kicker, and the part that reminds me of that famous political aide who lasted about ten days: this peace deal didn’t exactly have staying power. Almost as quickly as it started, the wheels fell off. Both Israel and Hamas began pointing fingers, accusing each other of breaching the agreement [4].

Soon enough, the fcurrent White House occupier, who had announced the deal with such fanfare, was back in the headlines. He “broke his silence,” issuing a “fiery statement” where he reportedly “fumed” at both Israel and Hamas for “destroying” his peace deal [1]. He even went as far as to threaten to “kill” Hamas if the violence continued [3]. It seems Hamas had refused Israel’s demand to give up arms, and Israeli strikes, though “dialled down” at Trump’s behest, hadn’t halted altogether, with eight people reportedly killed in Israeli strikes in 24 hours just days after the deal was supposed to be in effect [5]. The Gaza war, which had passed its two-year mark around this time [5], continued its tragic rhythm.

Anyone – anyone – who has paid any attention to how things go in the Middle East, particularly around Gaza and Israel, knew this was not likely to last. Netanyahu and Hamas both have axes to grind and too much to gain from the fighting continuing, and the Palestinian people remain in the crossfire. trump doesn’t care about Palestinians. He cares about putting a resort on the beaches of Gaza.

So, there you have it. A “master deal” that shimmered for a moment, then vanished like morning fog. It was a classic “blink and you missed it” situation, proving that even the most confident pronouncements can’t always change deeply entrenched realities. Sometimes, even the best intentions, or the biggest promises, just don’t stand the test of time, much like a certain ten-day tenure we all remember. It’s almost comical, if it weren’t so serious.
